XBMC Compatibly problems, and Suggestions.

XBMC exports <filename>.nfo instead of movie.nfo. And so you end up with both in the folder. When movie.nfo overrides <filename>.nfo so that means I gotta scan through the folders for all movie.nfo's after I export from XBMC.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001).nfo

I was thinking <filename>.nfo should be exported from mediascout by default. and maybe a rename of movie.nfo to movie.nfo.old or something.  Incase users wanna save it for something.

------------------------------

|'s or pipes don't belong in the .nfo file. XBMC doesn't ignore them. They become part of alot of feilds with mediascout.

<genre>|Action||Comedy||Crime|</genre>
<director>|Robert Schwentke|</director>
<credits>|Erich Hoeber||Jon Hoeber|</credits>
<studio>|Summit Entertainment|</studio>

The fields should be separated like this

<name>Juanes</name><genre>Latin</genre><style>Latin Pop</style>
<style>Rock en Espanol</style><mood>Earnest</mood>
<mood>Passionate</mood><mood>Uplifting</mood><mood>Yearning</mood>

Though XBMC does support item separation

<itemseparator> / </itemseparator> <!-- separator used for multiple artists/genres in tags. Note, this is *space* *slash* *space* -->

Some users may override the <itemseparator> tag in the advancedsettings.xml

------------------------------

XBMC has limited support for Movie Sets. So you could have all the diehards grouped together and such. But there is no gui to make one you have to manually edit the .nfo files. Mediascout could be that GUI.: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Movie_Sets

------------------------------

There was one more thing I wanted to point out but I can't remember it.

Now I remember.

<moviepath>\extrafanart\

<moviepath>\extrathumbs\

<tvshowpath>\extrafanart\

<tvshowpath>\extrathumbs\

Atleast in XBMC's skin Transparancy it supports the extrafanart folder. I'm not sure how accross the board this is. But I was thinking it would be handy if mediascout put the extra fanart in the extrafanart folder. So I didn't need to manually move them. Transparancy has an option to make a slideshow of fanart.

------------------
in the XBMC's .nfo should have a directlink to the fanart so when the user goes to change it in xbmc it populates the list.

Keep up the work.  more nfo here http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=Import_-_Export_Library

One thing I'm unsure of is if the nfo can link to local files with a relative path. That would need some testing. :)
