Commented Issue: Crash when clicking on Fetch in Movies or Manage TV [3719]

The only Fetch that works is the TV Shows, the recorded TV or movies will throw a error and it will crash.

I think you'll find this is a permissions issue when attempting to update a movie in which there is already data present. Check to see if there is a mymovies.xml file in the directory that contains the movie you are trying to update. If so try and remove the hidden attribute for the mymovies.xml file. If that doesn't work try changing the permissions for the file so that the "Users" group has full control.

Example, Jeeves and Wooster (http://thetvdb.com/?tab=series&id=76934&lid=7). When the program tries to get some of the graphics, it's failing because of a 404 error because some of the graphics don't exist (like http://thetvdb.com/banners/posters/76934-1.jpg)

Cleopatra 2525, which is missing a Poster image causes this as well.

If you're trying to run batch mode processing, you can work around this by creating a blank text file named "IGNORE" (no file extension) in the root of the folder causing the problem. Either that or submit an image for the series at TheTVDb I suppose...

I have this item on my to-do list to be fixed.

Hello,

I have my TV shows arranged on an external drive as:

E:\TV Shows\showName\Season #\# - episodeName.xxx

Any time I click on an episode within the browser, the program crashes. If the file name matches the convention put forward (i.e. 302, or S03E02) then it works fine.

I'm running Windows Vista Ultimate x64.

I've come across the same problem, also noticed the program keeps a handle on the mymovies.xml file afterwards so you then get a file access error, unless you either delete the xml file and re-fetch it (Which sometimes works) or restart the PC.

The only thing I would like now is when i click 'Change Poster' or 'Change Backdrop' to be able to import from a file, or enter the Url of an image to save as the Poster/Backdrop.

Hi, when episode thumbs aren't found online and MediaScout generates new thumbs, I've got black thumbs in most or all cases, e.g. "Medium" (hdtv xvid).
Most thumbs are all black, but on some thumbs I can see a faint network logo or faded image.
Apparently the snapshot is taken "too early" in the file, so I think it's necessary to implement some fix so that it takes the snapshot a number of seconds into the episode.

Apologies here, apparently I only get it when I try to generate the thumbs from one PC (not my Media Center). No idea as to why I don't have the same issue on my MCE, as I'm using the same build of MediaScout, and the same codecs in the same order and with the same merits, and the same version of ffdshow... oh, go figure.

Hi, would it be possible to alphabetically sort the Managet TV and Movies tabs (I'm using the most recent SVN build).
It's pretty hard to find a particular items if you have a long list.
Also, I notice that pressing a key to jump to the first item starting with that letter doesn't work, though that's pretty standard in most applications with browse lists.

If you have it selected to rename the file and the episode name has a banned character (like : for example), then the program won't rename the episode. Think 24 (Tv series).

The XML reading can find a token like <Released /> and thus the text will be "" and not "2005 and some optional comment".
The code to get the 2006 should use atoi or the equivalent in C# not Substring which will give out of range.

Hi,

By convention, most anime are named: "[ReleaseGroup] AnimeName 01 [CRCChecksum].mkv"
e.g. "[Live-evil] Death Note - 01 [9E7D2142].avi" or "Death Note - 01 [Live-evil] [9E7D2142].avi"

When i try running TVScout to fetch the data, it can find the series info, but not the individual files.
TVScout would give the following error:

Scanning Death Note...
Fetching Metadata
Metadata retrieved. Processing...
Processing 'Death Note'
Found 1 (Season 1)
Processing 1
Fetching Poster
Wrong (21): 'Death Note - 01 [Live-evil] [9E7D2142].avi'
Completed Death Note

Done.

Directory Structure is:
D:\Anime\Death Note\Season 1\Death Note - 01 [Live-evil] [9E7D2142].avi

I suspect that the CRC checksum is screwing it up, but i feel that including the checksum in the filename is the best solution to detect corruptions during file transfer.

I would suggest that the simple workaround would be to take the first set of numbers in the filename (the episode numbers are mostly 2 digits).

Additionally, since most anime series only run for 1 season, is it possible to make it default to season 1 when there are no "Season" subfolders detected?

"The biggest thing that bugged me with Media Center plugin development was that it has been structured around Western TV shows. I watch a lot of Asian TV shows, and they don't really have "seasons" for each show like the ones we're used to. Many shows are only run for one season. If it is popular enough to continue, they will produce a sequel show that goes by a different name instead of having another season. Requiring a "season" folder makes many of my shows have a lone "Season 1" folder. And since there will never be another season, the redundancy bothers me. I really hope there's some way you can have TVScout to default to grab metadata from "season 1" on thetvdb if it finds no subdirectories under the main series folder. If you could do something like that I would be SO THANKFUL!!"

Commented Issue: TVScout Does Not Recognize Episodes After Rename & White space issues

I ran TVscout on Season 2 of 30 Rock, and had it rename the files to "30 Rock SXXEYY - Episode Title" However, when I tried to run the scout again after getting a couple more episodes, I tried to run it again, and it gave me the message "Invalid Episode (30): '30 Rock SXXEYY - Episode Title.avi'"

At first I suspected it was because of the space, but I ran it on Top Gear and it renamed without issue. I have the sneaking suspicion that the 30 at the start of the title is where the issue stems from.

Also, some of the data gathered from the TVDB has a trailing whitespace in the episode name, which is carried over to TVScouts renaming result. I don't believe it causes any major problem, but is a little annoying.

In SVN 17767 I've tweaked the episode discovery again.

I've also added a rudimentary means to undo any name changes or moves.
