MediaScout

Metadata fetcher for TV shows and Movies, to be used with VideoBrowser/MediaBrowser plugin for Windows Media Center

News

In March, the main developer on this project, Aeoth, has ceased working on it. See here for the details. In spite of that, this project is not dead. While he remains the owner, other team members (FreQi) continues to (casually) support it. If you would like to contribute, you are invited to contact him.

Screenshots

Features

Fetches "poster art" (where available) for seasons and for series
Renames files, gets metadata, etc, just like the ruby script.
Handles S00E00, 00x00, and 000 naming structures (and S0E0, 0x0 and anything inbetween)
Rename files to whatever pattern you want:

Variables are:
{0} = Series,
{1} = Season Number,
{2} = Episode Name,
{3} = Episode Number

Example, the default is "{3} - {2}" which would convert "Heroes.S01E01.avi" into "01 - Genesis.avi".

Popup prompting to allow specific series selection. ie, If you have a folder named "Battlestar Galactica", it can map to the TVdb entry "Battlestar Galactica (2003)" or the old "Battlestar Galactica" - you can choose! Also handy if you have spinnoffs in one folder, ie, "Stargate\Atlantis" and "Stargate\SG-1"

It will still work until TheTVDB/TMDb change their API. If anybody is interested in continuing the project, contact me via codeplex's messaging system

This project is still alive! TVScout is undergoing massive changes as it becomes "MediaScout". MediaScout will handle TV & Movie metadata, with more management tools, as well as a filewatcher that automates the fetching of metadata process as soon as you drop a file into a folder!

Limitations/Known bugs/problems

Unlike the ruby scrapper fetches all the metadata for a show first. This means if you're only processing one or two episodes, it'll be "slower" (30seconds?) depending on your connection. For more than that, it should use less web calls.
