the fix freqi describes used to work for me. But now i get this error for every show i scan.

Error caching metadata: Could not find a part of the path 'F:\Portable Apps\MediaScout0.9Beta2a\Cache\TVCache\73244.xml'.

That error will pop up for every show.

any thoughts?

The only Fetch that works is the TV Shows, the recorded TV or movies will throw a error and it will crash.

I think you'll find this is a permissions issue when attempting to update a movie in which there is already data present. Check to see if there is a mymovies.xml file in the directory that contains the movie you are trying to update. If so try and remove the hidden attribute for the mymovies.xml file. If that doesn't work try changing the permissions for the file so that the "Users" group has full control.

Example, Jeeves and Wooster (http://thetvdb.com/?tab=series&id=76934&lid=7). When the program tries to get some of the graphics, it's failing because of a 404 error because some of the graphics don't exist (like http://thetvdb.com/banners/posters/76934-1.jpg)

If you're trying to run batch mode processing, you can work around this by creating a blank text file named "IGNORE" (no file extension) in the root of the folder causing the problem. Either that or submit an image for the series at TheTVDb I suppose...

I have this item on my to-do list to be fixed.

I seem to be the only one with this issue, so before I uninstall MediaScout I wanted to check with smarter people than I about a solution.

I have a relativley simple setup using Windows 7RC (and about 4TB of assorted storage) However, ever since I first downloaded MediaScout it, it crashes the minute I start to use it. Example: I have all Feature movies in thier own folders and within each folder is Backdrops, assorted files and original posters. I start MS and it brings up the movies in that folder (around 340), when I hit the Choose Poster or Background button the program subsequently crashes before bringing up anything else.

I am using version .9 Beta 2, so I wanted to know about things like Win7 Compatibility (even though I have tried changing the compatibility all the way back to Vista, XP, and Win2000 all with the same outcome)

Any help would be appreciated.

Being able to individually assign backdrops and banners for each season is coming up on my to-do list. I'll be posting a new binary release once I have some more of that in place.

I like the idea of spinners while images are loading so I'll see what I can do. If you have any suggestions of libraries I can model after, please link me to them.

I'm also using W7 Libraries so I'll put that item on the list of things to look into. Right now I just want to get MediaBrowser set up so you can really mange the individual collections of a series/season/etc. I keep all my stuff in one place on the network so I'm affraid it's a little low on the tree at the moment.

What would you be interested in seeing on a jumplist? Give me some examples. For those unfamilar with what a jumplist is, http://blogs.zdnet.com/BTL/?p=16143

I would like to see some support for Windows 7 Libraries. I have libraries created for my TV and Movies, as they are stored on different physical drives (7.5TB and counting). As such I think being able to set my "TV" and "Movies" locations to a Windows 7 Library within the "options" tab, thus allowing me to view all of my TV and movies when browsing said tabs.

ok i've found out what the problem is.

The movies will only show if you have them in folders. i.e. If you have a movie called "the muppets.avi", create a folder called "the muppets" and drop the movie inside.

In March, the main developer on this project, Aeoth, has ceased working on it. See here for the details. In spite of that, this project is not dead. While he remains the owner, other team members (FreQi) continues to (casually) support it. If you would like to contribute, you are invited to contact him.

Screenshots

Features

Fetches "poster art" (where available) for seasons and for series
Renames files, gets metadata, etc, just like the ruby script.
Handles S00E00, 00x00, and 000 naming structures (and S0E0, 0x0 and anything inbetween)
Rename files to whatever pattern you want:

Variables are:
{0} = Series,
{1} = Season Number,
{2} = Episode Name,
{3} = Episode Number

Example, the default is "{3} - {2}" which would convert "Heroes.S01E01.avi" into "01 - Genesis.avi".

Popup prompting to allow specific series selection. ie, If you have a folder named "Battlestar Galactica", it can map to the TVdb entry "Battlestar Galactica (2003)" or the old "Battlestar Galactica" - you can choose! Also handy if you have spinnoffs in one folder, ie, "Stargate\Atlantis" and "Stargate\SG-1"

Added a readonly text box that displays name of folder being searched ... Replaced "Cancel" button with a SplitButton to allow Skipping, Ignoring and Canceling of search ... I just recently installed media browser which is working fine. I then downloaded and unzipped media scout and proceeded to run the exe. In the options tab I pointed the movie folder to G:\Movies (External HDD) Which contains all my .mkv files. Now when i click over to the movie tab, nothing is populated and it is completely empty. If i point to my G:\ alone (which holds a few Video_TS files) I can see those as well as the movie folder. mkv is a format listed at the bottom So i'm not too sure if this is some type of error?
